    Founded in early 2025 at Kenyon College, Lacuna is a national literary publication dedicated to publishing innovative, boundary-pushing and conversation-defining creative and academic works by young writers. In an industry dominated by those with terminal degrees, Lacuna provides future professionals with a platform into the current literary conversation amongst their peers to create genuine dialogue and collaboration, as well as an opportunity to showcase their work to a national audience. Lacuna also offers pre-professional programs and workshops in partnership with literary faculty, organizations and local resources to support further growth and development, as well as providing hands-on publishing experience at all levels

    Lottie Mathew

    Editor-in-Chief

    Lottie Mathew '27 is an English and Creative Writing major with a Classics minor at Kenyon College, though originally from Essex, England. Following her experiences as an Associate and Young Writers' Resident Advisor for the Kenyon Review, she is now the founding Editor-In-Chief of Lacuna. In addition to her heavy involvement with the arts, Lottie serves on the departmental English Board, on the Editorial Team of Fashion In Trend Magazine, as the Literary Manager for Stagefemmes, as a Writing Center tutor and course liaison, and is actively involved with both Fulbright and the UK's leading social mobility charity, the Sutton Trust.

    Toms Russ

    Managing Editor

    Toms Russ ‘28 is an English major with an emphasis in creative writing. Outside of the Lacuna team, he is currently an editor for Persimmons Magazine and is a Kenyon Collegian Arts section writer and assistant editor. During his free time, Toms enjoys reading poetry, making Spotify playlists, and watching plays and musicals.

    Erik Kim '27 is an English and mathematics double major with a multicultural background. He has a special interest in speculative fiction and literary journalism. In his free time, he likes to watch long-form video essays on YouTube.

    Yemaya Gaspard

    Executive Liaison

    Yemaya Gaspard '28 is a psychology and Spanish double major at Kenyon College from South Florida. As Social Media Manager and Senior Editor for Her Campus Kenyon, she loves expressing her opinions and ideas surrounding current events, pop culture, and media/music through her writing. She is a passionate creative writer as well, with a strong appreciation for Kenyon's designation as the “Writers’ College." She also serves on the Safety and Wellness Committee and the Committee for Diversity, Equity, Inclusion & Accessibility on campus.

    Celia Torino

    Director of Art and Design

    Celia Torino '27 is an English and philosophy double major, invested in publishing as a space for critical, creative inquiry. Being the Director of Art and Design, she is responsible for overseeing all design-related elements of publication production, and will work closely with the rest of the board and teams on any media output. She found her rhythm in the behind-the-scenes work that brings creative projects to life. Her philosophical background has made her love editorial work — asking questions, challenging standards, helping someone build up their narrative, their voice! During the 2025-26 academic year, she'll be studying abroad at The University of Edinburgh.

    Aimee Halpin

    Director of Programming

    Aimee Halpin '26 is an English major at Kenyon College. Originally from New York City, Aimee joined Lacuna proceeding her work with Ballet and Beyond NYC, a nonprofit organisation, as an arts administrator for the Youth Performing Arts Conservatory, creating and executing programs and events. As a student marketing liaison for The Village Market, a local business in Gambier, Aimee manages a weekly student event on Mondays. Through her position as director of programming, Aimee remains dedicated to creating enriching experiences that offer community and opportunity for young professionals.

    Grady Hudson

    Director of Communications and Marketing

    Grady Hudson '26 is an English major and history minor at Kenyon College. Originally from Columbus, Ohio, Grady has done work for companies, nonprofits, and publications throughout Ohio, including Encova Insurance, Experience Mount Vernon, and now, Lacuna. He is an aspiring communications professional with a passion for reading and writing about sports, politics, and movies in his free time.

    Lottie Mathew '27 is a sophomore English major with a creative writing focus and a classics minor studying at Kenyon College, though she is originally from England. Following her experience as an Associate and Young Writers’ RA for The Kenyon Review, she now serves as the founding Editor-In-Chief and Director of Programming for Lacuna, a national publication housed at Kenyon College, dedicated to publishing the voices of future professionals across the nation. In addition to her involvement with the student-led English Board, Lottie is on the Editorial Team of Fashion-In-Trend Magazine and actively involved with the UK’s leading social mobility charity, The Sutton Trust.
